In a complete departure from its recognised line-up, Etesia UK is to launch a range of ultra-lithium battery-powered chainsaws, hedgetrimmers and pruning tools aimed at local authorities and commercial end users - providing a safer operating environment and massive cost savings.

The announcement marks a radical change from the company’s usual range of ride-on and pedestrian rotary mowers and brushcutters.

Estesia managing director Patrick Vives said: "From both an environmental and operational point of view, these no-emission products offer an enormous number of benefits and are the way forward for end users. They are extremely innovative, which complements are own brand; plus they match Etesia’s mission to work towards reducing the impact our products have on global emissions."

The firm said the battery-operated units are designed for rigorous professional use and are powered by new generation high capacity lithium-ion batteries that provide between a half and full day’s work.

They are lighter than their petrol equivalents, will save time on refuelling and avoid starting problems.

French supplier Pellenc is behind the new products, which are the result of the company’s newly established Green Technology Division.

An agreement was signed in December 2009 giving Etesia sole rights for the UK and Eire distribution of Pellenc’s ranges of Selion chainsaws and polesaws and the Helion hedgecutter and Treelion powered secateurs.

It is the first time Etesia has allowed its UK subsidiary sole discretion in trading in a brand outside the company’s own product range.

Etesia has appointed Sharrocks as a distributor for the range, commenting on the appointment Sharrocks MD, James Sharrock said, “The Pellenc range is the most important development in the market for years, Councils and Contractors will soon see massive gains in many areas.”
